About The Cup

Far away from the distant shores of his homeland, Richard McCormack fell in love with an immigrant from the distant shores of his homeland in a small berg on Seneca Lake called Geneva. He and his wife, Maude, produced eleven children, who in turn produced several grandchildren (and to the worthy self-proclaimed historians, there's a prize if you can name each one - good luck with that).

Over the years as families spread far and wide from the shores of Seneca Lake, the few remaining locals pressed each other into an annual tourney of nine holes, the beginning of the coveted McCormack Cup. On the first Sunday of August each year, several lucky and/or gifted foursomes of golfers cherished the prize, also known as a trophy.

This year marks the fourth, fifth or sixth (no one really kept track) McCormack Cup. It's an annual bonding event that keeps the McCormack blood flowing with fun, frolic and the occasional brew (Oh how I wanted to remain alliterative!). Remarkably, many still recognize family resemblance and traits, with the help of old photos. This year the powers that be (the ptb's) hope to include name tags making it easier for those with feeble eyes and shrinking gray matter to better recognize those they haven't seen in cough-cough years.

Come one, come all! Your bloods await! Cheers!
